and on the seventh day we are to rest...

Wow...very busy three days.

Saturday the sun FINALLY came out. Time to do over a weeks worth of laundry. Now, this may sound simple and quick....nothing is EVER quick in the DR.

First, you load the washer. Add soap and water. Wash for 10 minutes. Transfer slopping wet wash to the spinner a few items at a time. Spin for 2 minutes. Continue for rest of load. Drain washer. Refill washer with clean water. Add soapy clothes to clean water to rinse for 8 minutes. Transfer slopping wet wash to the spinner a few items at a time. Spin for 4 minutes. Carry wet laundry to clothes line and hang to dry. (Actually on a hot, windy day, clothes dry very quickly!). Repeat three more times as clothes dry on the line. Clothes line is not that big.

Note to self: get a longer clothes line

We've been working on cleaning the pool. Silly gardener/pool guy we had for the last two years (being paid a good wage by DR standards) didn't do his job AT ALL. We're working on removing rust stains from the bottom, dirt and green/black growing stuff from the edges and generally scrubbing the entire pool. (Note: check Ross's new profile picture out...he's in his Speedo.....rotflmaopmp)

Went to the Jolly Roger Bar and Grill last night. It was mechanical bull riding night. It is absolutely amazing what people will do after having a few too many drinks. They think this bull is the real thing....people of all shapes and sizes and a few that really shouldn't have expected someone to boost them onto the bull...that's just NOT fair to anyone's back. It was a hoot to watch the local Dominican's faces as they watched the damn stupid gringos on the bull. Even the local policia had to have a look.

Went to the Jolly Roger Bar and Grill tonite (no we don't live at the bar) for traditional turkey dinner for a whopping $6.83 per plate. Our drink tab was more than the actual meal. (Ross had a "few" extra beverages tonite.) Dinner was excellent and although Patty's stuffing (guest chef tonite) was very good, Ross stated that my stuffing is much better. (Smart man that he is!) Desert was shortbread cookies and gingerbread cookies. Very festive!

We met an interesting couple from Canada tonight who had to sit at our table cause there was no other room in the inn. Turns out they were from Sherwood Park AB and were spending a couple of months in Sosua to see if they liked it here. We talked about our experiences here, gave them a few pointers, shared some shopping information and in the end, we are having our first formal dinner guests on Tuesday. Now I truly feel like I am at home. I have to plan a meal and cook! Might have to pick up a few more dishes though...I only have four dinner plates...LOL

Today I worked on some yard clean up because we had an almost cloudless day. Did some painting, picked up the dog poop, put away the mountain of laundry I did yesterday.

Cat fell in the toilet today. Her food is on the top of the toilet tank lid so the dogs don't eat her food. Guess I forgot to put the lid down. LMAO

Cats CAN swim.....
